Difference between predicative complement and attribute
In the previous videos I explained what the attribute and the predicative complement. In this video I want to show you the similarities and differences between these two accessories.
First of all, both the Predicative Complement As the Attribute agree on gender and number with the Subject (the Attribute) and with the Subject or Direct Complement (the predicative complement).
The main differences between these two plugins are:
- while the Attribute appears only with copulative verbs (to be, to be or to appear), the Predicative Complement appears with the rest of the verbs (predicative verbs)
- the Attribute can be substituted for the pronoun lo, on the other hand, the predicative complement is not substitutable by this pronoun.
- The Attribute cannot be eliminated from a sentence since doing so loses its meaning. On the contrary, the Predicative Complement is removable.
- While the Attribute indicates a quality, the Predicative Complement indicates a state or nuance of mode and can be substituted for the adverb like that.
You will understand this explanation better in the video since I have prepared an explanatory table with examples that will facilitate it.
In addition, to deepen and practice with the difference between Predicative Complement and Attribute I have left you on our website some printable exercises with their solutions so that you can correct them yourself. I hope they help you!
