Types of verbal periphrasis
In this video I will explain the types of verbal periphrasis. Verbal periphrasis or verb phrases are classified according to their structure or according to their meaning.
The Verbal periphrasis or verb phrases according to their structure They may be:
- verb periphrasis of infinitive
- verb periphrasis of gerund
- Verb periphrasis of participle
The Verbal periphrasis or verb phrases according to their meaning They may be:
- modal verbal periphrasis: We refer to the attitude of the speaker regarding the action expressed by the verb. These periphrasis can be of obligation and of opposition or doubt.
- Aspectual verb periphrasis: whether the action is finished or in progress. These periphrasis can be: ingressive, inchoative, reiterative, durable or perfective.
