Appreciative, affective or expressive suffixes

In this video I will explain the appreciative, affective or expressive suffixes. There are two types of suffixes, today we will explain the first type, this type of suffixes express subjective evaluations by the speaker: size, contempt, etc.

The diminutives are the suffixes that express smallness: -ito, -ico, -in, etc. Here I show you a map of Spain with the most used diminutives in each region.

The augmentatives are those that express greatness: -aco, -on, -udo, etc. Some may have a derogatory undertone.

The last suffixes are humorous and derogatory: -ute, -orrio, -aco.

All these suffixes have been pasted so much to the word that we are no longer aware that they are suffixes but now they have lost the evaluative aspect of the word.

So far the theoretical explanation in the video you will see many examples that will help you better understand the appreciative, affective or expressive suffixes. Also, now you can do practical exercises to put into practice what you have learned. I am also at your disposal to answer any questions you may have.
