Step Pyramid of Djoser
It is the tomb of Pharaoh Zoser of the III Dynasty of Egypt. It is located in Saqqara, and is supposed to have been built by the first known architect and engineer in history, Imhotep. It is the oldest pyramid of all, and served as a prototype for all later pyramids.
Bent Pyramid
Commissioned by Pharaoh Seneferu, first pharaoh of Dynasty IV. This pharaoh ordered the creation of three pyramids, this being the first of the three. In this pyramid we can find a separation between the temple, access and place of worship.
South Pyramid of Dahshur
It is a funerary building built by order of Pharaoh Seneferu, the first pharaoh of Dynasty IV. It is located in the city of Dahshur, 40 kilometers south of Cairo. It is considered the best preserved pyramid in all of Egypt, due to the fact that it conserves most of its coating.
Red pyramid
It is the third largest pyramid in all of Egypt, and the largest of those built in Dahshur, forty kilometers from Cairo. Commissioned by Seneferu, it gets its name from the reddish color of the blocks that make up its core. At the time it was built, it became the tallest building in the world.
Great Pyramid of Giza or Pyramid of Cheops
The only wonder of the ancient world that still exists. It is the largest pyramid in Egypt, being the tallest monument in the world for 3800 years. It was ordered by Pharaoh Cheops of the 4th dynasty, and created by the architect Hemiunu. It is located in the Necropolis of Giza, next to the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure. It is the best known pyramid in all of Egypt, being the one associated with the term Egyptian pyramid.
Pyramid of Khafre
It is one of the pyramids located in the Giza Necropolis. In ancient times it was called the Great Pyramid, since from the perspective it seemed larger than that of Cheops. Today, the pyramid of Khafre is larger than that of Cheops, because the top of the latter has been eroded.
Pyramid of Menkaure
The last of the three great pyramids located in the Giza Necropolis. It is the smallest of the three, reaching 65 meters in height. The order to build this pyramid was from Pharaoh Menkaura of Dynasty IV.
Pyramid of Neferirkara
The second pyramid built in the Abusir Necropolis, south of Giza. It is the largest pyramid built during Dynasty V, and was commissioned by Pharaoh Neferirkara Kakai.
Pyramid of Teti
It is located in the pyramid field of Saqqara. It was built during the 6th dynasty, being ordered by the first pharaoh of this dynasty, the so-called Teti.
