Link order, distance and energy

Welcome to UnProfesor, in today's video we are going to define the bond order, bond distance, bond energy, and we will see how we can predict or compare each of these parameters from the Lewis structures.

To begin, we will define what each of these concepts is:

- Link order indicates the number of electron pairs that are between the two atoms. There are different types of link orders (Link order 1 or simple, where there are only a couple of electrons that join the two atoms, bond order 2 or double, two pairs of electrons between the atoms ...)

- Bond distance is the distance between the atomic centers of the two atoms that we are joining.

- Binding energy is the amount of energy needed to break 1 mole of electrons.

If you have any questions or comments about bond order, bond distance, and bond energy, you can do it through our website. And if you want to practice more, you will find below this video, some printable exercises with solutions for you to do.
