Geometry of molecules I

Welcome to UnProfesor, in today's video we will start talking about the geometry of molecules.

So far we have seen a representation of which are the links that are established between the central atom and the atoms that are bonded to the.

As we have drawn so far, at no time have we taken into account what the royal arrangement of these atoms and these pairs of electrons at the 3D level.

What we will use is the RPECV method (Repulsion Pairs of Electrons of the Valencia Shells) that allows us to say or define, what is the geometry or arrangement of these atoms and of these pairs of electrons around the central atom.

The most optimal layout is the one in which there is least repulsion possible. Next we will see some examples.

If you have any questions or comments about the first class of geometry of molecules, you can do so through our website. And if you want to practice more, you will find below this video, some printable exercises with solutions for you to do.
