Who is San Judas Tadeo?
The first thing we need to talk about Saint Jude Thaddeus is that he is not the only one apostle that he had this name, since another of the apostles was Judas Iscariot, known for betraying Jesus and this is the reason why many people confuse Tadeo with the traitor. To differentiate it, several different names are usually used, the main one being Judas Tadeo, but also being called Judas de Santiago and even Tadeo alone.

It is said that Judas Tadeo was son of Cleofás and Maria de Cleofás, the sister of the Virgin Mary and aunt of Jesus. Judas Tadeo was born in the city of Paneas, located in the Galilee area, being the only one of a Jewish family. We don't know much more about Judas Tadeo before he joined Jesus and the other apostles, but we do know that he was a farmer, working the land until the arrival of Jesus and the abandonment of his trade.
It is considered that Judas Tadeo was a member of the third group of apostles, along with Judas Iscariot and Simon the Canaanite, being the latest to enter the group. Members of the third group, including Judas Tadeo, are considered the most judaizing, because they were the ones who older jewish tradition they had and the most reluctant to the rise of Christianity as such.
The appearances of Saint Judas Tadeo in the Bible are few, the most important being his intervention in the Last Supper. In this meeting, Judas Tadeo asked Jesus the reasons why he was going to manifest himself before them but not before the infidels, to which Jesus replied that those who believe in him should keep his word and God will come to they.
Later, Judas Tadeo was one of the people who saw the resurrection and ascension of Jesus, remaining prayerful to the arrival of the Holy Spirit. After that, Judas Tadeo began his journey to evangelize and bring the word of Jesus to the entire known world.
How Judas Tadeo died.
To conclude this lesson on the history of Saint Judas Tadeo, we must talk about his last years, knowing his journey to evangelize and what was his tragic end for having supported Jesus.
It is said that, over the years, Judas Tadeo performed a great trip to evangelize new areas, passing through Judea, Samaria, Idumea, Syria, Mesopotamia and Libya. Even other sources comment that he was able to reach Beirut and Edessa on his travels.
Of all the trips made by Judas Tadeo, the one considered most relevant is usually that of Armenia, being considered in this nation as the father of armenian christianity and being represented in this area as one of the most important holy persons.
It was in Beirut that the end of Judas Tadeo took place, suffering martyrdom in 65 d. C., that is, being persecuted for his Christian beliefs. At that time, Judas Tadeo was with another disciple of Jesus, Simon the Zealot, as they were close friends and traveled together in evangelization. Both were martyred, although during their lives they were able to evangelize many areas and bring Christianity to many people.
It is said that Judas Tadeo was finally killed by an ax and his head was torn off by this weapon after being found by the enemies of Christianity. Years later, his body was taken to Saint Peter's Basilica, where he was buried as one of the most important disciples of Jesus.
