Brief introduction to the life of Bécquer.
To know well the work of an author, it is also necessary to discover what his figure and personality were like, so that more details about his legacy are obtained. In this case,
Bécquer was born in Seville in a cultural environment, for he was the son and brother of painters. However, he was soon orphaned and left for Madrid in 1854 after abandoning his career as a painter to try to dedicate himself exclusively to literature. However, he was only able to contribute to minor newspapers.Later, he did achieve some success in higher-level publications, and some of his most important works could see the light, such as the Legends, along with social chronicles and essays.
He was married for a time and had three children. Furthermore, he managed to become official censor of novels, a well-paid charge. He also wrote an early version of the Rhymes which was lost in 1868 due to the Revolution and that he had to rewrite.
In 1870, after having moved to Toledo to live with his brother Valeriano, a painter, he died of a tuberculosis or venereal disease, it is not known well, that he dragged a long time.

We are already entering the world Rhymes of Bécquer. Curiously, one of the most successful works of the romantic poet was never seen published by the Sevillian author. In total they are 76 poems that saw the light in 1871 thanks to the poet's friends, who published it under the name of The Book of Sparrows.
In this work, Bécquer focuses on the study and understanding of the Rhymes. In them, the author achieves great musical quality, obtaining with total simplicity and naturalness a creation of enormous sound.
As for the formal issue, these Rhymesthey are assonance and basically focused on harmony, seeking the creation of almost invisible and confusing visions so that experiences become hopes, feelings, evasion, etc.

We are now fully acquainted with the main topics of the Rhymes de Bécquer, for which the total of 76 poems must be divided into four large groups, each focusing on a different theme. However, in all of them are the classic reflections on love, hope, death, etc., since they are all born of the intimate memories of the poet.
Thus, together, they can be understood as a total:
- Rhymes I - XI: in this first group, the author makes a deep reflection on the inspiration and creative mystery. The poet considers poetry as something natural in the human being that is found anywhere, from a smile to a sunrise.
- Rhymes XI - XXIX: in this second group of poems the author is hopeful and happy, so he focuses his theme on how beautiful he is reciprocated love. They all stand out for being shorter poems that convey beautiful emotions and seek the complicity of the reader.
- Rhymes XXX - LI: the third group of rhymes arrives, centered on the impossible and painful love. It is like a broken relationship for which there is no longer a solution, so the author presents himself as the ME, who faces his impossible beloved, YOU. In this fierce fight both lose almost by the force of fate.
- Rhymes LII - LXXVI: the last group of rhymes revolves around the closeness of death and fear of loneliness. They are very harsh, quite deep and in which there is a resigned expectation of the author, who can only raise certain bitter protests, but which he knows will be of no use.
