Types of noise in human communication

Start a lesson from a TEACHER in which we are going to know the types of noise in human communication. And it is that, anything that interferes the arrival of the message that a sender transmits to a receiver can be considered as noise.

But, in this case, the term noise does not only apply to a noise nuisance that could interrupt or bothering two individuals who are talking, for example, there is a lot of other typology that it is convenient to know, well both internal and external factors influence.

That is, we are talking about any information disturbance that makes it not come clearly. Therefore, it could occur both in the channel and in the medium that is used for this purpose, as well as in the code and in the form. We see it now.

In total, we distinguish 6 types of noise in human communication. Remember, noise is the communication interference that prevents communication from taking place. This disturbance can distort or hide the message in these senses that we see:

• Physical noise: It is external to the sender and receiver and includes things like any sound that prevents it from being spoken and understood correctly. For example, the loud sound of music in a bar, a construction site, traffic disturbances, etc.
• Psychological noise: This type of noise is a mental interference that prevents the receiver from hearing the message. It can be due to a mistake, that the mind of the listener is distracted thinking about other things while they speak to him, etc.
• Physiological noise: When it is a physiological problem that interrupts and prevents proper communication, this type of noise occurs. It can occur when one of the participants, both sender and receiver, are ill with a physical or mental problem such as migraine, a plugged ear, an oral problem ...
• Semantic noise: When the sender and receiver do not share the meaning of the message, this type of noise is produced. It is very common if a profane person in a subject talks to an expert. For example, between doctor and patient, between client and lawyer, with scientists, etc. If terminology is used that the listener does not understand, noise appears.
• Influence noise: This occurs when the attitudes of one of the parties involved in the communication prevent understanding. It can happen between politicians, between scientists, etc. That is, there is no clear intention of understanding one towards the other.
• Technical noise: finally, we find a last type of noise referred to the defects in the means used for communication. For example, if the phone fails when talking, through a computer, a walkie talkie, etc. If it gives problems to transmit, we understand that it is the technique that fails.

We also find types of noise in human communication that are considered sound disturbances, and that are usually very common. It is the case of:

• Incorrect use of code, that is, not being fluent in the common language.
• Be in front of a illegible text due to the font or the poor quality of the printing.
• By stains in a written text.
• It also occurs when the voice of the sender is barely audible.
• When there is radio interference on a television, for example.
• When the receiver suffers hearing impairments, that is, that is deaf or has hearing problems, for example.
• It is also understood by noise when there is a excess information.
• It is also considered noise not to give the key information that makes a message understandable.
• In general, when the attitudes and values ​​of the communication actors are not taken into account, noise is also produced.
• Like anything that prevents free communication, it is also considered noise.
