Steps to analyze a compound sentence

In this video I will explain the steps to analyze a compound sentence.

Remember that the compound sentence has more than one verb with personal form or not, forming sentences interconnected by links that form a composite structure.

The steps that we will continue to analyze a compound sentence will be:

1. Understand the sentence. We can be wrong, it seems silly but as soon as we read the sentence our brain already begins to make hypotheses, so it is worth rereading and paying attention to the morphology.

2. Underline verbs. Because they will delimit the compound sentences that we will find.

3. Look for the links that join the sentences.

4. Delimit the sentences.

5. Analyze each sentence independently as if they were simple sentences. For that, remember that we will follow the 8 steps that we saw in the video on how to analyze a simple sentence.

6. In the end, according to the nexus, we will establish if it is a prayer coordinated, subordinate or juxtaposed.

7. In case it is a Subordinate sentence we must find out if:

  • It is an O. S. S: for this we will substitute "a thing", "something", "that", that is, a noun.
  • It is an O. S. Adjective we will find a relative pronoun that will mark us an antecedent (which, which) and the function will be CN.
  • It is an O. S. Adv. The function will be CC and we will have to specify whether in Mode, place, time, conditional. With practice and understanding the meaning of prayer we will find out.

In the video you will have this explanation clearer and with more examples that will facilitate understanding. In addition, on the web I have left you some training printables with your solutions in order to that you can practice what you learned in today's lesson.
