What are taboo words and euphemisms?

When we talk, we try avoid some profanity words or that may be offensive to the people who are listening. Are are taboo words. They are expressions or words that are in the dictionary and are not prohibited; however, they sound bad depending on the situation and to avoid them we must resort to euphemisms.
